"Fuse" reflects the joining together of M.I.A.'s hip hop rhythms and the stylistic elements of… modern, and hip hop to create a dynamic, energetic, contemporary ballet work. The piece explores the physical potential of the individual and the joy of movement within a community.

Check out the AMAZING flashing lights on my costume and the sparkles added in through… "magic" of dvd editing! (Costume design, dvd design, choreography and dancing by Kira Seamon)...I tried to depict the fun, joy and excitement that I feel during a fireworks show on the 4th of July!...The black shrug I wear could be imagined as the night sky and the flashing lights I sewed around my wrists could represent the fireworks. I created a "starburst" movement (flinging arms gleefully overhead), which I also varied, in that I sometimes did little firework "explosions" with only my hands involved. (seen during the bourree section). The dance ends as firework shows often do, with one last burst that gently glitters down to earth. AMAZINGLY fun to dance!!!!... (Possible nicknames I thought up for this dance could include: Flash n' Dash, Twinkle Toes or Light up the Stage) - Thank you for watching!

This was performed in the McKinley Ampitheater at Usdan Center for the Creative and Performing… the renowned summer arts day camp on Long Island, New York. A rivalry of 19th century ballerinas Marie Taglioni, Lucile Grahn, Fanny Cerrito being judged by Arthur Saint-Leon, the famous dancer/choreographer, asked to choose the most beautiful of the three.
