This is a jazz dance and i like to match my choreograpphy with the lyrics. I also take ballet, modern, jazz of course, and tap. This kind of choreography may not appeal to other people and the music may not appeal to other people but thats okay with me. I'm just being myself. As for the space, this event was a talent showcase at my church, not some big event. God bless!!!!!

Your technique and skill are evident. The performance space with seating all around and a pole in the middle make it difficult for the viewer to connect with the dancer. What about trying different music-classical, even, such as Handel or Vivaldi-and see what impact that has on your dance. Then the music rather than lyrics would be connected with the dancer and the dance.
Here is my solo from a talent show last year,October 2008. Its not my best…
(more info) because i was really really sick and very nervous but it is one of my best choreography pieces......so far.=) Enjoy!
