DANCE OUT! ensures that the performing arts remain vitally accessible and affordable to underserved students and public audiences. Initiated in 1999, this program instills social responsibility with an appreciation for community service, collaboration, mentorship, and personal achievement. The dance training allows participating students to accelarate beyond the State of California’s Dance Education Standards. Presidio Performing Arts Foundation offers, at no cost, exceptional afterschool programs in world dance, ballet, music, and theater based in the Sunset, Richmond, and Bay View Districts. Each year, hundreds of underserved students develop skills and experiences to serve them throughout their entire lives. Thousands of students enjoy Presidio Dance Theatre’s free annual live performances at the San Francisco War Memorial Opera House and SF Youth Arts Festival. Facilitated by its dynamic collaboration with the University of San Francisco’s Performing Arts and Social Justice program and in collaboration with the San Francisco Unified School District, DANCE OUT! integrates diverse cultural education, teamwork, and social responsibility. The most promising students from DANCE OUT! are identified and recruited for more intensive training at the Presidio Dance Theatre Academy.
