80’s Punk Ballerina, Karole Armitage returns to NY to choreograph her wastershed 2004 work “Time is the Echo of an Axe Within a Wood”, hailed by the New York Times as “one of the most beautiful dances to be seen in NY in a very long time.” Set in mid-winter, the film bears witness to the creative, practical and personal challenges involved in mounting this technically demanding piece, which was Armitage’s first New York-based creation since 1989.
