Are you judging this PROFESSIONAL BALLET COMPANY? Wow. It's funny because if you listen and pay attention, you would have read in Pointe Magazine that Angel Corella was raving that he was so impressed because for this very ballet, La Bayadere, he said that after very little time, all the Shades in the third act were exactly the same. This is a new company. Don't expect it to be the Kirov. And don't make snap judgements. The lighting is perfectly fine. The dancers are amazing.
#2 Quite lovely
A lovely beginning to a new company. But, corps needs more work. Costumes are wonderful, lighting needs more professional help. Either open up the barn doors on the spotlights, or follow them better. I am sure this was an excellent hit when performed. Great start.
#1 Corella Ballet at City Center, March 17-
Natalia Makarova's faith in entrusting Angel Corella and Corella Ballet with her production of "La Bayadere" was obviously justified. (Why ABT has not scheduled him for any Bayaderes in NY this Spring is beyond me!!) How I wish I had been able to travel to Spain to see any of Corella Ballet's performances! Thankfully, the wait will soon be over... I am so looking forward to their two mixed programs at City Center next week, including Angel Corella's new work, "String Sextet"!
